BioTek Cytation 5 is a hybrid multi-mode microplate reader that consolidates a wide range of applications—from ELISA and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays to advanced cellular imaging—into a single integrated platform. Its modular design allows configuration based on current laboratory requirements and can be upgraded with additional modules such as automated digital microscopy as needs evolve.

The instrument supports UV-Vis absorbance, fluorescence intensity, luminescence, fluorescence polarization, time-resolved fluorescence, and AlphaScreen detection modes. Proprietary Hybrid Technology optics combine the precision of filter-based fluorescence measurement with the flexibility of monochromator optics. With a wavelength range of 230–999 nm and resolution of 0.0001 OD, precise absorbance measurements are achievable.

Support for 6 to 1536-well plates, along with compatibility for microscope slides, Petri dishes, and cell culture flasks, makes the platform suitable for both routine ELISA testing and advanced cellular research applications. Gen5 software simplifies complex analysis workflows, streamlining data acquisition and processing. Integration with automation systems such as BioStack and BioSpa 8 provides additional flexibility for high-throughput workflows.
