The DR-M4 is ATAGO's high-refractive-index version of the DR-M2 model. It is a digital Abbe refractometer capable of measuring refractive index (1.4260–1.9218 nD) and Abbe number (νd or νe) at multiple wavelengths across the 450–1100 nm range.

Using interference filters, the instrument enables monochromatic measurement at various wavelengths (450 nm, 589 nm, 680 nm, 1100 nm, and others), making it ideal for characterizing the spectral behavior of high-index optical glasses, crystals, and specialized optical materials across different wavelengths.

Measurement is performed with an LCD digital display and crosshair intersection method; results can be recorded with DP-AD(B) printer support. The instrument does not feature IP65 protection or automatic temperature compensation; laboratory use in a controlled environment is recommended.
