PAL-Colostrum is a digital handheld refractometer manufactured by ATAGO, specifically engineered for rapid quality assessment of colostrum (first milk). It delivers accurate measurements in the 0.0-53.0% Brix range with ±0.2% accuracy, providing results in approximately 3 seconds.

The instrument operates with only 2-3 drops of colostrum sample, enabling on-site quality evaluation of colostrum intended for newborn calves without requiring laboratory submission. Automatic temperature compensation (10.0-100.0°C) ensures consistent results across varying ambient conditions. The 0.1 Brix resolution allows discrimination of subtle quality differences.
