NutriCulture Cell Viability Detection Kit-8 (CVDK-8) utilizes water-soluble tetrazolium salt to enable highly convenient analytical procedures. WST-8 [2-(2-methoxy-4-nitrophenyl)-3-(4-nitrophenyl)-5-(2,4-disulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium, monosodium salt], upon reduction in the presence of an electron mediator, produces a water-soluble formazan dye. NutriCulture CVDK-8 is provided as a single-bottle solution; pre-mixing of components is not required. NutriCulture CVDK-8 permits sensitive colorimetric assays for quantitation of viable cell numbers in cell proliferation and cytotoxicity experiments. WST-8 is reduced by dehydrogenases in cells to produce an orange-colored product (formazan) that is soluble in cell culture medium. The amount of formazan dye produced by dehydrogenases in cells is directly proportional to the number of viable cells. Detection sensitivity achieved using NutriCulture CVDK-8 is higher than those obtained using other tetrazolium salts such as MTT, XTT, MTS, or WST-1.
