The BioTek Synergy H1 is a configurable multi-mode microplate reader that delivers the flexibility of monochromator-based optics combined with the precision of filter-based optics through proprietary Hybrid Technology™. It modularly supports detection modes including UV-Vis absorbance, fluorescence intensity, luminescence, fluorescence polarization, and time-resolved fluorescence; the instrument is upgradeable as analytical needs evolve. The reader accommodates microplates ranging from 6 to 384 wells, petri dishes, and Take3 micro-volume plates, enabling low-volume quantitation of dsDNA and protein down to 2 µL. A 4-Zone™ incubation system with Condensation Control™ provides temperature control up to 45°C; optional CO2/O2 control is available for live-cell assays. Linear, orbital, and double-orbital shaking modes enable thorough homogenization. Gen5™ software manages data acquisition and analysis; Gen5 Secure option is available for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance. Integration with BioStack and third-party automation systems is supported. In UV-Vis absorbance mode, the monochromator system operates across 230-999 nm with 1 nm step resolution, delivering 0-4.0 OD dynamic range and 0.0001 OD resolution. The xenon flash light source enables rapid kinetic reads (11 sec for 96-well, 22 sec for 384-well plates). This is the preferred platform for cell-based assays, biomarker analysis, nucleic acid/protein quantitation, and kinetic experiments.
