Atago PAL-88S Propylene Glycol Refractometer

The PAL-88S is a digital handheld refractometer developed by Atago for rapid and precise measurement of propylene glycol-based antifreeze and coolant concentration and freezing point. Designed for quality control in automotive service centers, HVAC technicians, and food safety-critical cooling systems.

The instrument delivers results in approximately 3 seconds with just 2-3 sample drops, measuring concentration across 0.0–90.0% (V/V) and freezing point from 0 to –50°C. It provides reliable results with ±0.4% (V/V) concentration accuracy and ±1°C freezing point accuracy. Automatic temperature compensation between 10–40°C ensures consistent measurement under varying ambient conditions.

With IP65 protection rating, it resists water and dust ingress for field and workshop environments. Powered by 2×AAA batteries with a compact 100g body, it facilitates portability and on-site deployment. In applications where incorrect antifreeze concentration risks engine freeze-up or unnecessary operating costs, the PAL-88S provides fast, repeatable measurement capability.
