Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of the integrated cold trap (GKF 1000i)?
The cold trap condenses vapors before they enter the pump, protecting the internal mechanics and extending oil life while improving pump performance with condensable media.
How does the gas ballast system improve water vapor tolerance?
Gas ballast introduces air during compression to increase discharge temperature, preventing vapor condensation inside the pump and allowing safe handling of moisture-laden gases.
What does 'vacuum-tight sealing during shutdown' mean?
The pump maintains its vacuum seal when stopped, preventing atmospheric air from back-flowing into the system without requiring an external check valve.
What is the difference between ultimate vacuum and ultimate partial vacuum?
Ultimate partial vacuum (4×10⁻⁴ mbar) is measured at the inlet without gas ballast; ultimate vacuum (2×10⁻³ mbar) is the lowest achievable pressure at the pump outlet with typical gas ballast.
How often must the pump oil be changed?
Oil change intervals depend on application conditions. The large oil capacity (0.73 l max) ensures extended intervals. Regular monitoring is recommended for optimal performance.
Is an external anti-return valve required?
No. The RZ 6 design eliminates the need for external anti-return valves due to its vacuum-tight sealing during shutdown.
What is the maximum back pressure this pump can handle?
The maximum back pressure is 1.1 bar (abs). Operation beyond this limit may damage the pump.
