The PAL-Moisture digital handheld refractometer calculates moisture content in samples using the formula: Moisture content = 100 – Brix. Brix is a measure of total dissolved solids (TDS) in a solution, representing the combined concentration of all soluble substances such as sugars, salts, proteins, and acids. Brix is expressed as weight percentage – 100g of sucrose solution. When other dissolved solids are present in the solution, Brix conversion can be applied. This compact, ergonomic instrument delivers rapid measurements with automatic temperature compensation across ambient conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the relationship between Brix and moisture content?
Moisture content is calculated using the formula: Moisture content = 100 – Brix. Brix measures total dissolved solids in a solution, so subtracting from 100 yields the water content percentage.
How much sample is required for measurement?
Only 1-2 drops (0.3 ml sample volume) are needed per measurement, making this device highly efficient and economical.
Does temperature affect measurement accuracy?
No. The automatic temperature compensation system ensures accurate measurements regardless of ambient temperature (10-40°C operating range), with compensation function active across 10-100°C measurement range.
What is the IP65 rating?
IP65 certification means the device is completely dust-proof and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction, suitable for both laboratory and field environments.
How fast are measurements?
Measurement results are displayed in approximately 3 seconds after sample application.
What type of batteries does it use?
The device operates on 2 × AAA batteries, providing portable field operation without external power requirements.
