The BioTek Lionheart LX is a compact, ocular-free digital imaging system engineered as an accessible alternative to complex and expensive custom-built automated microscopes. Integrated with Gen5 software, it substantially automates the image capture, processing, and analysis workflow, enabling common assays such as cell counting, confluence measurement, and live cell experiments to be completed significantly faster than with manual microscopy.

The system supports fluorescence, high-contrast brightfield, and color brightfield imaging modes, equipped with a 16-bit CMOS camera (2.3 MP Sony IMX249 sensor) and high-power LED light sources spanning 365-740 nm, enabling single-color, multi-color, Z-stack, and time-lapse image acquisition. On-board capacity for 6 interchangeable objectives and 4 fluorescence filter cube slots provides flexible reconfiguration for diverse applications.

The X/Y stage with 0.1 micron resolution supports not only 6-1536 well microplates but also diverse labware including slides, petri dishes, and cell culture flasks (T25, T75). Autofocus, auto-exposure, and automatic LED intensity adjustment features minimize user intervention. An ideal solution for cell culture, histology, immunofluorescence, and label-free cell counting laboratories.
