PAL-HIKARi 30 from Atago's HIKARi series is an infrared (IR) principle Brix meter specifically engineered for melon fruit analysis. By simple surface contact without cutting the fruit, it simultaneously measures sugar content (Brix) in both the surface zone (10-20mm depth) and core region.

Measurement range is 7.0-16.0% Brix on surface and 7.0-21.0% Brix in core, with 0.1% Brix resolution at both depths and ±2.0% accuracy. Repeatability is within ±1.0%. IP65 protection rating enables safe operation in field and storage conditions. The instrument has no temperature compensation; therefore, measurements should be performed at stable room temperature.

For melon producers, exporters, and quality assurance teams, it provides a rapid, non-destructive solution for harvest timing determination and batch-based quality classification.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can measurements be performed without cutting the melon?
Yes, the instrument measures both surface and core region Brix values by simple surface contact only, without requiring any cutting.
Does temperature affect measurements?
The instrument has no temperature compensation, so measurements should be performed at stable room temperature for optimal accuracy.
Is this meter calibrated only for melon?
Yes, PAL-HIKARi 30 features a dual-depth measurement algorithm optimized specifically for melon varieties.
