3M™ Neogen® Petrifilm® Yeast and Mold Count Plate is a ready-to-use culture medium system designed for enumeration of yeasts and molds in food safety and quality control laboratories. Compared to the conventional pour plate method, it requires significantly less materials and bench space with minimal preparation time.

The plate contains nutrient-enriched, cold water-soluble gel with antibiotics and a built-in indicator to facilitate colony enumeration. Results are obtained following inoculation and incubation at 20-25°C for 3-5 days. Yeast colonies appear small, blue-green with distinct margins; mold colonies appear larger, diffuse-spreading with typically dark-pigmented centers, enabling clear visual differentiation between the two groups.

Approval according to AOAC OMA 997.02 methodology ensures reliable performance in official and routine analyses within the food, beverage, and bottled water industries. Available in 100-count and 1000-count package options, enabling laboratories to plan procurement according to sample throughput requirements.
