Reagent Y – Chemometec Yeast Cell Analysis Reagent

Reagent Y is a specialized reagent from Chemometec used in yeast cell counting and viability analysis applications. It permeabilizes the plasma membrane of yeast cells, allowing nuclei to be stained with propidium iodide (PI), thereby enabling discrimination between viable and non-viable cells.

The recommended usage ratio is 1:10 (sample:reagent); for example, 450 ml of Reagent Y is recommended for 50 ml of sample. The product is supplied in 500 ml bottles and has been developed to work seamlessly with Chemometec's YC-100™ and NC-3000™ cell counting instruments.

For laboratories working with yeast cells, accurate viability analysis is critical; this reagent provides the necessary membrane permeabilization prior to PI staining in a standardized and reproducible manner.
