Food safety allergen detection, particularly for common allergens such as coconut, is of paramount importance. SENSIStrip Coconut test has been specifically developed to determine the presence of coconut in food products and cleaning control processes. Based on immunoassay principles, SENSIStrip Coconut test enables detection of samples containing coconut. After placing the sample in a reaction vial containing biotinylated antibodies specific to coconut proteins, incubation is performed at room temperature for three minutes. The test strip is then placed in the vial and as the sample moves across the nitrocellulose membrane by capillary forces, streptavidin-conjugated gold nanoparticles are released. This interaction results in an antibody-gold complex formation. In positive samples, a red line appears at the test line area with the fluid reaching that zone, while in negative samples no line appears. In all cases, a red control line appears above the test line area, indicating test validity. Test results are evaluated after five minutes.
