Petrifilm® Staph Express Count Plates are a ready-to-use culture medium system that enables rapid and reliable enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus in food safety and quality control laboratories. The chromogenic, modified Baird-Parker medium plate provides selective and differential identification of S. aureus; it also facilitates detection of Staphylococcus hyicus and Staphylococcus intermedius colonies.

S. aureus colonies develop characteristic reddish-purple coloration within 22 hours of incubation, enabling faster results compared to conventional methods. The test requires only a single incubation temperature, and direct colony enumeration can be performed without additional confirmatory steps. AOAC® OMA-approved methodology makes these plates suitable for routine use in food, beverage, and environmental sample analysis.

Manufactured under the 3M™ Neogen® brand, these plates are available in boxes of 50 or 500 units to meet laboratory requirements.
