Interscience Scan®500 Automatic Colony Counter

The Scan®500 is an automated imaging system that streamlines colony enumeration in food, water, and microbiology laboratories. Equipped with a CMOS color camera and 28x digital zoom, it detects colonies as small as 0.1 mm, processing approximately 30 petri plates in an average of 5 minutes, thereby significantly reducing manual counting time.

The system delivers accurate readings across diverse media types—PCA, TSA, VRBL, TBX, TSC, Baird Parker, GVPC, L.Mono, and YM—through 6 lighting combinations (top/bottom illumination, white/black backgrounds). Contrast and brightness are automatically optimized; agar defects and confluent colonies are automatically detected and separated, ensuring result consistency.

Results can be reported in Excel, PDF, JPEG, PNG, BMP, or Scan® formats, with seamless integration into barcode systems and LIMS. Compatible with 55–90 mm petri dishes and Interscience Spiral® Plating systems. Its stainless steel body and compact footprint (27×27×29 cm, 6.6 kg) require minimal bench space. Operates in full compliance with GLP standards and provides multilingual support.
