The Apera Instruments LabSen 211 Combination pH Electrode Sensor, backed by patented Swiss sensor technology and materials, is ideal for precise measurement of regular water solutions and water pH testing in scientific research and quality control applications. This electrode is compatible with TRIS buffer solutions and features LabSen's proprietary blue hemispherical glass membrane design—offering faster response times, superior repeatability, and exceptional mechanical durability against impact compared to traditional fragile glass bulb membranes. The sensor is capable of testing high-temperature samples up to 225°F (107°C). The LabSen® 211 incorporates a Long-Life Reference System comprising a glass tube, AgCl, and silver reference wire. The upper end of the thin glass tube is lined with cotton to prevent reaction between AgCl and electrolyte during temperature fluctuations, enhancing reference electrode stability and extending the electrode's service life. The electrode features a BNC connector compatible with all Apera pH meters using BNC connectors, including MP511, PH850, PH8500, PH700, PH800, PH910, PH950, PH820, and PC820. No built-in temperature sensor—users require a separate temperature probe (e.g., Apera MP500) to enable ATC or manual temperature compensation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the LabSen® 211 electrode compatible with non-Apera pH meters?
The electrode features a standard BNC connector; however, compatibility depends on whether the pH meter also uses BNC connectors and supports the electrode's specifications. Verify meter compatibility before use.
Does this electrode include automatic temperature compensation?
No, the LabSen® 211 does not have a built-in temperature sensor. Users must connect a separate temperature probe (such as Apera MP500) to enable ATC or manually input the sample temperature for accurate temperature compensation.
Why is the blue hemispherical membrane superior to traditional glass bulb designs?
The patented blue hemispherical glass membrane provides faster response times, better reproducibility, and significantly greater mechanical durability and impact resistance compared to conventional fragile glass bulb membranes, making it ideal for challenging laboratory environments.
What makes the Long-Life Reference System unique?
The cotton-lined upper end of the glass tube prevents reactions between AgCl and the electrolyte when temperature fluctuates, stabilizing the reference electrode and extending the electrode's operational lifespan beyond standard designs.
Can this electrode be used in high-temperature applications?
Yes, the LabSen® 211 can test samples up to 225°F (107°C), making it suitable for thermal analysis and high-temperature water quality testing.
Is this electrode compatible with TRIS buffer solutions?
Yes, the LabSen® 211 is specifically designed to be compatible with TRIS (tromethamine) buffer solutions commonly used in laboratory calibration and testing procedures.
